Michael D. Sanborn, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP, serves as Corporate Vice President of Cardiovascular Services for the Baylor Health Care System in Dallas, Texas. He oversees cardiac services for all Baylor entities with a focus on improving patient outcomes, program development, resource allocation, process improvement, marketing, clinical research, contracting, and supply chain management. Prior to this role, he was Corporate Director of Pharmacy with responsibility for pharmacy operations, finances, technology, and clinical services at 13 hospitals in the Dallas Fort Worth area, representing nearly 3000 licensed beds and employing over 400 pharmacists and technicians. He received his degrees from the University of Kansas and completed an accredited practice residency with an emphasis in health-system administration at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Mr. Sanborn has held many elected and appointed positions at national, state, and local levels. He is currently serving as a member of the Medication Safety Technical Advisory Panel for the National Quality Forum and is Chair of the Patient Safety and Quality Committee for the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council. In addition, he is currently President of the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and has recently served as Chair of the Council on Pharmacy Practice for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Mr. Sanborn has presented and published in a variety of areas, including innovative drug therapies, pharmacy automation, clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and practice management.

James R. Rinehart, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP, is Director of Pharmacy at BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, a 656 licensed bed, tertiary care regional medical center on two hospital campuses. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He completed an administrative residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. His practice experience includes academic medical centers, nonacademic medical centers, and long-term care pharmacy in clinical and administrative roles.

Mr. Rinehart is a member of the clinical advisory board of the Institute for Safe Medication Practices’ Medication Safety Alert newsletter, acute care edition. He is active with the Nebraska Pharmacists Association (NPA), currently serving as a member of the NPA board of directors. He is a past chair of the NPA education committee. In 2003, he received the NPA Health-System Pharmacist of the Year award. Mr. Rinehart is currently chair of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers. He previously chaired the ASHP Section Advisory Group on Workload and Productivity Monitoring, served as a member of the ASHP Council on Professional Affairs, and served as a member of the ASHP House of Delegates.

William W. Churchill, M.S., R.Ph., is Executive Director of Pharmacy Services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, where he is responsible for leadership of the pharmacy department and Anticoagulation Management Services. Mr. Churchill serves Brigham and Women’s Hospital as Chairperson of the Drug Safety Committee, Vice Chairperson of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and Co-Chairperson of the eMAR/Bar Code Scanning Project Team. He also serves Partners Healthcare Network as Co-Chairperson of the High Performance Medicine improvement team that focuses on the implementation of medication safety technology. Mr. Churchill is Chairperson of the University Hospital Consortium’s (UHC) Pharmacy Financial Performance Committee and is a member of the UHC Pharmacy Executive Committee. He is Adjunct Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Northeastern University, Bouve College of Health Sciences in Boston, Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and Master of Science degrees from Northeastern University.

For his efforts in improving medication safety worldwide, Mr. Churchill was awarded the 2007 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Distinguished Leadership Award and was selected as the 2008 Massachusetts Health-System Pharmacist of the Year by the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
