Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

A live webcast brings a video presentation to you over the Internet– at your workplace, in your home, or through a staff in-service program.  You will have the opportunity to ask the speaker questions at the end of the program. Live webcasts are offered monthly, typically the second Tuesday of the month.
If you are unable to attend the scheduled offerings in your subscription, you can access the archived webcasts on-demand. These are complete recordings of the live events, including the questions and answers from the audience. Continuing education is available via an online assessment (post-test). Archived webcasts are accessible approximately one month after the initial broadcast and can be viewed at your convenience, 24/7.
An individual subscription allows one learner to participate in monthly live webcasts over a 12 month period. Subscribers may also view available archived webcasts available on-demand for home study credit.
Subscribers have unlimited viewings of the archived webcasts conducted during their 12-month subscription.
Each webcast will provide links to additional resources including a handout of slides and references.

This continuing pharmacy education series was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists in a variety of health-system settings, and it would be particularly beneficial for pharmacists, clinical specialists, pharmacy managers, leaders, and educators who are interested in learning about new and emerging trends for improving patient care.

The speakers practice at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, so they are aware first-hand of challenges pharmacists face on a daily basis. Many of them have advanced certifications, and they are well-recognized as experts in their fields. In addition, they are engaging speakers who will ask the learner to participate, as well as respond to questions submitted by learners during the live webcast.
After completion of a webcast, subscribers will process CE online and print or save statements of credit at ASHP eLearning.  Subscribers who view an archived webcast will take a short assessment (post-test).

Each activity is accredited for one hour of continuing pharmacy education credit by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

If you purchase a subscription for multiple enrollments, your administrator will receive an e-mail confirmation with instructions for enrolling all learners. Learners will then be able to view live or archived webcasts and complete their own CE certificates and evaluations online through ASHP eLearning.

Those who purchase a subscription by the first of each month will be able to participate in the live webcast on the second Tuesday of the month.

If you are responsible for coordinating education for your staff, this subscription is an excellent tool to provide affordable and flexible continuing education on a variety of timely topics. It also offers administrative tools to check the progress of learners as they complete activities over the course of the subscription.

Technical Questions

Yes, you will need a high speed internet connection to view the webcast. When viewing, the webcast will automatically adjust to your internet speed if it should vary throughout the webcast. This may cause a temporary blurriness in the speakers image but will not change the image quality of the presentation slide. However, an Audio Only option is also available. This allows users to call in using a toll free number and follow along with the slides in the handout.

To ensure that you have the best learning experience possible. Please make sure your browser of choice is configured to allow for the following:

  • Pop-ups Windows. Some security settings prevent pop-up windows from launching or open them in a "tab." In order to view learning activities at the optimal size, your system should allow pop-up windows to open as a free-standing window.
  • Javascript. Make sure Javascript is enabled. Most web sites use Javascript and it is enabled in as a default. However, if you customized this setting and disabled Javascript, make sure you enable Javascript prior to launching an activity.
  • Screen Space. Our multimedia activities require at least 990 pixels of side-to-side space and 650 of top-to-bottom space in the viewing window in order to display the content. Most systems with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 meet this requirement. However, if you have multiple tool bars or other custom features you might not have enough screen space. The solution is to hide the toolbars or increase your screen resolution while participating in an activity.

Additionally, an Audio Only option is available. This allows users to call in using a toll free number and follow along with the slides in the handout.
