Barbara S. Wiggins, PharmD, BCPS, CLS, FNLA, FAHA, FCCP, AACCBarbara S. Wiggins, Pharm.D., BCPS, is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Prior to this, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Clinical Instructor for the University of Virginia School of Nursing, and Pharmacy Clinical Specialist in Cardiology at the University of Virginia Health System Heart Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dr. Wiggins has also held an adjunct faculty appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in Richmond, Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Dr. Wiggins then went on to receive her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Some of her accomplishments include: the Junior Alumni of the Year Award from St. Louis College of Pharmacy; Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society; Merck Award for Clinical Research; and Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy with Added Qualifications in Cardiology. Dr. Wiggins has also served as a member of the Cardiovascular Expert Panel for the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). She currently holds the office of Vice President for the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology, and is an elected member of the Pharmacology Committee for the Council on Clinical Cardiology for the American Heart Association and is a board member of the National Lipid Association. Dr. Wiggins has been awarded Diplomate status with the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology (ACCL) and is a Clinical Lipid Specialist. She is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, National Lipid Association, and The American College of Clinical Pharmacy. She was also awarded the designation of Associate of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Wiggins has served as an abstract reviewer for ACCP, and for Pharmacotherapy. She has also served on various committees for ASHP and ACCP and is past Chair of the Cardiology PRN. Dr. Wiggins has also co-authored a chapter on chronic heart failure for the Pharmacotherapy Self-Assessment Program and is also the lead editor of a book entitled “Pharmacists Guide to Lipid Management”. |
