This newsletter contains valuable information to help you prepare for and get the most out of the 2017 Midyear meeting. Attached to this newsletter is your registration barcode, your pass to the Preregistered Registration kiosks. No need to bring a printed copy; you can scan the barcode on your smartphone at the preregistered kiosks and be on your way.

Meeting Location

All ASHP sessions, events, and exhibits will take place in the Orange County Convention Center West Concourse, unless otherwise noted in the onsite Program Book or ASHP LIVE! app. View a map of the convention center to familiarize yourself with the property.

Weather and Attire
When packing, keep in mind that the weather in Orlando in early December has an average high of 73 degrees and an average low of 50 degrees. Hotels and convention centers are also cool, so ASHP highly recommends that you bring a sweater or dress in layers when attending sessions. Please pack accordingly.

Food & Beverage
From barbeque, deli, burgers, and pizzas, to Greek, Chinese, French, Italian, and Japanese, to freshly prepared healthy options with locally sourced products grown in the Central Florida sunshine, the wide variety of food concepts available throughout the Orange County Convention Center’s West Concourse and Exhibit Hall (during open hours) offers something for everyone and every budget. Preregistered attendees: Bring your registration confirmation barcode with you, scan it at our satellite registration kiosks, pick up your badge and meeting registration bag, and be on your way.

ASHP LIVE! App
Introducing the new ASHP LIVE! app. We have a new app, and it’s better than ever. You can use it to create your own schedule and explore detailed sessions and event info; browse presenter, poster, and attendee listings; access session materials and take notes directly on the slides; receive important updates and announcements; network and interact with your peers; and much more.
Available in app stores for iOS and Android.
NOTE: If you’ve used the ASHP LIVE app in the past, you must delete it and download the new app.

Educational Session Materials
Materials are available online and in the ASHP LIVE! app for all registered attendees. Print the materials for the sessions you plan to attend before the meeting and bring them with you. Materials will not be provided in the session rooms.

Wi-Fi Access
Complimentary Wi-Fi access is available in the convention center meeting rooms and public areas, as well as PPS.
Simply select the network ASHP on your device and you are connected.
IMPORTANT HOTEL, SHUTTLE, AND TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Housing Services (Orchid Event Solutions)
A representative from Orchid.Events, ASHP’s official housing company, is available to assist registrants with hotel-related matters on Saturday and Sunday in Registration A, Level 1, from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Registrants may also call Orchid.Events directly at 877-505-0675. Agents are available to assist Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. ET.
NOTE: As many hotels in Orlando have similar names, carefully note your hotel’s address, found on your acknowledgment from Orchid.Events. This will ensure you arrive at the correct hotel.

Shuttle Bus Service
Saturday, December 2 – Thursday, December 7
Complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided from official Midyear meeting hotels to the Orange County Convention Center West Concourse, except for the Hyatt Regency Orlando, Rosen Centre Hotel, Rosen Plaza, and Days Inn Convention Center/International Drive, which are within walking distance of the convention center. Shuttle service will also be provided to the Wednesday Evening Event at Universal Studios. View the shuttle schedule. The shuttle schedule is subject to change based on usage, weather, and traffic. Please check the ASHP LIVE! app and News & Views for changes and updates to the schedule.
NOTE: ASHP does not provide shuttle service to and from the airport and the Midyear meeting hotels or to and from morning or evening symposia and social events supported by the pharmaceutical industry, universities, and other organizations.

Getting Around Orlando
Taxi
The official taxi companies in Orlando are Mears Taxi, Star Taxi, and Diamond Cab Co.

► Star Taxi is the preferred taxi company for Rosen Hotels. Please note that all Rosen properties will have only Star Taxi Town Cars out front available; however, if a guest prefers a metered taxi, they can go to the concierge desk and request one to be called for them.

Poster Mentors for Students and Residents

Since 2010, the Student and Resident Poster Program has more than doubled in size. This year, we are on a mission to double the number of volunteer mentors.
We would like to invite you to volunteer as a Poster Mentor at the ASHP 2017 Midyear meeting to provide the benefit of your experience to students and residents who will truly value your time. Featured Programming: Opioid Use
The 2017 Midyear Clinical Meeting is the premier place to learn better ways for managing your practice around the devastating opioid public health crisis. All Midyear meeting attendees are welcome to join nationally recognized facilitator, speaker, writer, and consultant on improving performance and attitude, increasing team-engagement and organizational culture, Ryan Penneau. In his talk, Ryan encourages attendees to be conscious of the energy they give and receive from the world around them. This interactive session will help you define energy as it pertains to how you show up in the world, give you the tools for building stronger relationships and influence, and help you give yourself permission to impact the world around you personally and professionally.  

LGBTQ Networking Event

ASHP is hosting an LGBTQ professional networking event to provide meeting attendees the chance to gather and connect with others. Attendees can also learn about ASHP’s activities to promote LGBTQ patient-centered care.

ASHP Foundation Match for Med Safety Reception

Support efforts to advance medication safety on Sunday evening by attending the annual ASHP Foundation Reception. Book Signing to Benefit ASHP Foundation

Retired pharmacist, healthcare executive, and former ASHP Foundation Board member, George Zorich will be in the ASHP Resource Center signing his new book, Entrepreneurs in Pharmacy, which profiles 10 pharmacy graduates and the challenges they each faced in building a unique business. Each graduate addressed a unique problem within pharmacy products or services and built a business around the solution. The book will be given to anyone making a donation of $50 or more to the ASHP Foundation.

Which Trends Will Affect Your Pharmacy Department in 2018?
Tuesday, December 5, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

The ASHP Foundation’s Center for Health-System Pharmacy Leadership will preview the trend predictions in the latest Pharmacy Forecast report at Pharmacy Forecast: Getting in Front of the Trends That Will Shape Your Future. This CE session will identify components of the external environment that are expected to have a major impact on hospital and health-system pharmacy practice over the next five years. The faculty will also present some of the report’s most important strategic recommendations, which will be helpful to pharmacists who are planning the future of their departments.
